Arsenal vs West Ham | Premier League – Matchweek 3 of 38 Betting Preview and Tips
Arsenal vs West Ham – Sat 25th Aug, 15:00, Emirates Stadium, Ref: Graham Scott
Both teams have started their seasons with back to back defeats, but Arsenal has had the much harder games. Man City at home followed by Chelsea away is no easy way to start the season under a new manager and philosophy. Emery will be desperate to show what his team and style of play is capable of after two questionable performances.
Arsenal’s main issue has been defensive but also created very few chances against Man City. Against Chelsea they had a much better chance with, let’s be fair, defensive woes throughout the whole match. Both teams defended like they were playing in a Sunday league.
Chelsea looked worse in the first half with the same exact movement carving them open time several times. Simple balls to the wing then passed back across the box to an Arsenal player that always seemed to be unmarked. Luckily for Chelsea, they didn’t have their shooting boots on and missed chances from close range several times.
It is hard to say anything good about the game from a defensive standpoint. Both teams were quite frankly shocking and full of basic mistakes. Which was great for the neutrals but must have been hard for the fans. Emery has to improve on these glaring defensive issues, and this game could be the perfect chance to sure it up at the back.
The Hammers have been struggling in their previous two games, but it was a lot closer against Bournemouth. They dominated possession with around 61% and had a good number of chances. But defensive blunders let West Ham down. Just like somehow allowing Callum Wilson to navigate his way through four players and slot past Fabianski, and a poorly defended free-kick proved their downfall.
Arsenal should take a few positives from their loss at Stamford Bridge. They created more than enough clear chances to score at least four goals but poor finishing ultimately lets them down. They should have more than enough to dispatch West Ham, but can they keep a clean sheet?
We think Arsenal could show what they are capable of this season, and go on to win this game fairly well. A BTTS match result Arsenal looks likely and is best priced at 6/4 with BetBright.
Mesut Ozil is also a player to be aware of in this fixture. He has been involved in five goals (three goals, two assists) in his last four PL appearances against the Hammers. He hasn’t looked great, but that is usually the time he pops up with a goal or assist to temporarily silence his critics. Anytime goalscorer at 3/1 with Unibet.
