Liverpool vs West Ham | Premier League – Matchday 1 of 38 Betting Preview
Liverpool vs West Ham – Sun 12th August. Kick Off: 14:30. Anfield, Liverpool.
Just a few days until we experience the incredible atmosphere of Anfield, in their first home game of the season. Arguably the second most exciting team in the Premier League (behind Man City) right now, is back with some cracking signings. Firstly, replacing their vulnerability in goal is Brazil’s world-class keeper Alisson who was an all-time record until Kepa signed for Chelsea late last night.
Then, two talented midfielders in Naby Keita and Fabinho who are defensive in nature, but will allow Liverpool’s dynamic front three to push forward with less consequence. Or at least improve on a sidewise or backwards passing Henderson. I say that, but Henderson played quite well in the World Cup with a lot better positive forward play, if only he could show it more in the Prem.
Lastly, Xherdan Shaqiri who is a great little addition for the squad and showed it with his beautiful bicycle kick against United in pre-season.
On that note, Liverpool has had an impressive pre-season thumping Napoli 5-0, Man United 4-1. Also, beating Torino 3-1 and Man City 2-1 in their last four games. West Ham are also on a four-game winning streak after beating Angers, Mainz, Ipswich and Aston Villa.
Their transfer window has also been a success, bringing in Pellegrini as their new manager. Then, breaking their club record signing with Felipe Anderson from Lazio. Along with a new CB in Issa Diop, a new winger in Andriy Yarmolenko and a new goalkeeper in Lukasz Fabianski. Plus, some great free transfers in Wolves promotee Ryan Fredriks at RB and Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere who needs no introduction.
Betting Tips
However, even with their great new manager and players, we feel West Ham will struggle at Anfield. The last three meetings with Liverpool have resulted in 4 goals scored in each game. With Liverpool winning 4-1, 4-1 and 4-0 respectively.
At Anfield, Liverpool went the whole of last season unbeaten. Winning 12, drawing 7, scoring 45 and conceding just 10 goals. It will be tough to replicate such a great season at home, but they certainly have the squad to do it.
It is hard to find value in any of Liverpool’s markets to win. Winning to nil is best priced at 21/20 with Betfred.
We also like the look of anytime goal scorers for Roberto Firmino (who scored a brace in his last match) at 23/20 with BetVictor.
Or if you feel West Ham could get a goal, Arnautovic would be their man at 18/5 with Unibet.
